Srinagar, Sep 13 (KNO): Asserting that events like Jashn-e-Dal create neutral spaces where communities can connect and trust can grow, Additional Director General of Police (Armed) Anand Jain on Saturday highlighted the role of sports in strengthening police-public bond.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 26th edition of the festival, ADGP Jain, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) described Jashn-e-Dal as more than a sporting event and termed it as a platform that brings people together, encourages youth, promotes tourism and strengthens the police-public bond.
Pertinently, Jashn-e-Dal’s first edition was held in 1999 and since then the festival is celebrated annually.
“This year, over 700 participants are competing across 20 disciplines, including Olympic and Asian Games sports. Dragon boats have also been introduced as a new attraction,” the ADGP said.
He also said Srinagar will host the All India Cluster Judo Championship in the first week of October, with nearly 3,000 athletes from across the country.
He said, such events not only showcase talent but also help build bridges of trust and cooperation between citizens and law enforcement.
He said that festivals like Jashn-e-Dal are a reminder that sports can unite communities and create positive engagement between the public and the police—(KNO)
